East Coast Entertainment artist Tony Barnes is steadily becoming a recognized writer and performer throughout the Carolina's, Tennesee, and the Deep South of Texas. He is the former lead guitar player and co-writer, for Nashville based Southern Rock band, Mckenzies Mill; and a recognized instrumental composer. He is a 5 year veteran of the Nashville music scene, where he was influential in writing some of the strongest material for Mckenzies Mill; according to Kent Well's, Dolly Parton's veteran guitar player; and the band's producer.
Tony is a regular act at Carowinds Theme Park in Charlotte, NC, Park West Village in Raleigh, NC, Reel Café Rooftop Series in Wilmington, NC, and performs solo up to full 6 piece band depending on the budget. He currently resides in Wilmington, NC and tours all over the Carolinas and the southeast.
In 2007, he won Broadjam.com's guitar solo contest in honor of Stevie Ray Vaughan with his original instrumental, "Push & Pull." He was then invited to bring the band (Mckenzies Mill) to Madison, WI to perform at Muriel Anderson's "All Star Guitar Night", at the Barrymore Theater, with the likes of Monte Montgomery and Thom Bresh to name a few.
Tony was the solo act at The Isla Grand Beach Resort in South Padre Island, TX during the Summer of 2010. While in TX, he befriended; and was offered 2 gigs on Austin's famed 6th Street, by internationally touring (Jason Aldean's My Kinda Party Tour), Disc Jockey, D.J. Silver.
In December 2010, Tony recorded his first solo EP with Texas Country Star, Roger Creager's, bass player/band leader, Stormy Cooper in Houston, TX. Songs like "So What I'm Drunk" and "Life" have become regular requests by his fans during his musical endeavors over the Southeast in past years. Nearly 2000 copies have been sold since its release, with thousands more downloaded from I-Tunes, and other online digital distribution companies.
In the fall of 2012, Barnes' co-written song, "Dirty Things" won The Bud Light Battle of the Bands contest that sent his counterparts, and performers, McKenzies Mill, to Nassau, Bahamas to open for "Pit Bull" and "All American Rejects."
In 2015 Tony won a nationwide talent search to record a live video session at acclaimed Full Sail University. The video will be released along with the upcoming album in 2016.
During the Spring of 2016 two of Tony’s new original songs were featured on 94.7QDR Raleigh, NC for the NC Homegrown Country Show with DJ “Cruise”.
Currently, Barnes is finishing up his 2nd solo Album (5th studio album) in Nashville, TN with recognized producer Daniel Dennis of Prime Cut Studio. The first single, "A Few Good Friends of Mine" was released online and has already established itself as a Radio Ready, "Pitchable" song by earning an 8.0 out of 10 Review by the world's leading Independent Music, Social Platform, Reverbnation.com. Tony was honored and humbled to be a Featured Artist on the Homepage of Reverbnation.com (3 Million members) during the week of 8/27/13-9/3/13.
